Tool(s) of the Trade: Alpine skis

Experience: 12 years; Certified Alpine Level II

Background: I have been on skis since I was 4. Having grown up in Truckee, CA, snow, mountains and skiing are an integral piece of my DNA. I ski raced through high school and began teaching skiing at the tender age of 15 at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in California. Though I went to college by the ocean at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo to study Architecture, I still was tied to the snow, frequently making the 6-hour drive home to teach skiing. I even passed along my deep passion for the sport to my husband (now also a Summit Ski Instructor) by teaching him to ski. We often joke that our wedding vows should have read “for better or for worse, in big snow years and in drought.” Planting the seeds of this sport continues in our 3 young daughters. The best thing about being a ski instructor is having the opportunity to share the joy and passion of skiing with others and see that passion take hold and grow in them.
